Mazda will sell subcompact Mazda2 in Canada and U.S.


Palm Springs, California - Mazda has confirmed that it will sell its subcompact Mazda2 in the United States beginning in late 2010, after previously announcing that the B-segment car would be sold in Canada beginning about the same time.

Mazda North American Operations president and CEO Jim O’Sullivan made the announcement during a meeting of the company’s top dealers in California.

“You’ve asked us for it for a while now, and we’ve been studying the market to make sure we can make a business case for it across North America,” O’Sullivan said. “As consumers’ tastes and attitudes toward small vehicles have changed, we now believe strongly there is a place in our lineup for a car below our current least-expensive car, the Mazda3. Mazda2 will be true to everything that makes our cars stand apart from the competition: it will be stylish, fun-to-drive and a heck of a value.”

No further details were released, but the company said that the final North American-specific Mazda2 will be unveiled at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, with further information and pricing to follow closer to launch.

ya déja pas mal de sous compacte sur le marché, reste a voir si leur prix vont etre compétitif . Coté moteur, ya pas de quoi se lancer a terre, un gros 1.5 litre avec 103 hp....

À première vue, vite de même, j'aime mieux la Fiesta, côté look en tout cas.

Les sous-compacte de ce type, provenants d'Europ ont très souvent des roues surdimensionnées qui donne tout un look à la voiture, un peu comme la Ford Fiesta.....

Mais cette 2 fait vraiment voiture économique cheap.....je trouve !

J'ai hâte de voir les reviews mais mon premier réflexe serait de dire "trop peu trop tard" ça fait quand même depuis 2004 - 2005 que les sous-compactes sont à la mode...
