Et aussi au tour de Nissan

autonews.com wrote:Nissan to recall 540,000 vehicles globally

Automotive News -- March 3, 2010 - 6:01 am ET

TOKYO (Reuters) -- Nissan Motor Co. said it will recall 540,000 vehicles worldwide due to potential defects in brake pedal pins and fuel-gauge components.

The automaker says brake pedals on some 2008 to 2010 Titan pickups and Armada SUVs and some 2008 and 2009 Quest minivans can come loose and cause reduced braking force.

All but 79,000 of the problem vehicles were sold in the U.S. The company said other recalled vehicles were sold in Canada, Mexico, Japan and other markets.

No injuries or crashes have been reported. Customers with loose brake pedals should contact their dealer.

Nissan also is recalling some 2005 to 2009 Armadas and Titans and some 2006 and 2008 Frontier pickups and Xterra and Pathfinder SUVs due to faulty gas gauges that shows a quarter of a tank of gas when it is nearly empty.

Owners will be notified when to bring their vehicles in for repairs. The automaker said none of its cars or minivans currently on sale is affected by the problems.

No accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with either problem, and Nissan is offering inspections and free repairs for the affected autos.

Nissan is the latest to issue a recall amid a flood of safety problem across the industry this year. Toyota Motor Co. is struggling with a massive global recall of more than 8 million vehicles. General Motors Co. on Tuesday said it was recalling 1.3 million compact cars sold in North America due to problems with power-steering functions.
