Une version décapotable pour la prochaine ZR1:

"...So far, we've only seen the Corvette ZR1 convertible briefly in video. This time, one of our spy photographers caught it in still images while it was at the GM proving grounds. The car seems to have the various tell-tale signs of the ZR1. You can make out the edges of the large vents the car will have in the front bumper. The rear wheels are also the split 5-spoke units that aren't currently available on other models, and will probably be exclusive to the ZR1.

Also at the back is the smaller of two rear wings we've seen on ZR1 prototypes so far. It's also the only wing we've ever seen equipped with the convertible. On coupes, both the small wing and much taller and wider one have been fitted. While it could be that we just haven't been lucky enough to see a soft-top with the tall wing, it's also possible Chevrolet won't offer the tall one on the convertible at all. It could be part of a coupe-exclusive track package. This wouldn't be unreasonable since people hunting the fastest lap time will probably opt for the coupe anyway. There could also be aerodynamic reasons not to offer the tall wing on the roadster.

Otherwise, we expect the convertible to use the same engine as the coupe, which will likely be a more powerful version of the supercharged LT4 V8 found in the Z06. It will probably make at least 700 horsepower, which would give it bragging rights against the Dodge Hellcat, and a sizable bump compared with the Z06. Naturally, that extra power will be supported by bigger brakes and better suspension. Also be sure to check out our post with everything we know about the ZR1 for more photos and info...."

"....The 2019 Chevy Corvette ZR1 has been spied several times in the past year, in camouflage and in various stages of undress, and also alongside what we think will be the mid-engine Corvette that will succeed it. But now the ZR1 has been spotted on a field trip to the mother of all racetracks, the Nürburgring.

With the black camo gone, we can see just how aggressive it looks, with aero you might find on a GT3 racecar. The hood features a large bulge that likely accommodates a big supercharger, and large vents. The front fascia shows three huge air intakes and massive splitter. The splitter even appears to have vertical winglets at the ends.

The fender vents appear different than what we've seen before, and it is sporting a huge wing. We've seen various wing sizes on the ZR1 prototypes, so perhaps there will be wing options, something similar to the Z07 Performance Package to be available on the new ZR1. As for the engine, we've speculated in the past that it will exceed 700 horsepower, maybe 750..."

Un autre vidéo de la ZR1 sur le ring: https://youtu.be/2zm45hh05kM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mid-Engine C8 Corvette To Boast Near Six-Figure Price, Arrive In 2019 -
by Sean Szymkowski May 17, 2017

"...Everyone’s favorite topic, that is the mid-engine Corvette, has been spun on the rumor mill yet again. This time, Wheels has divulged potential details surrounding the C8 Corvette, which is poised to be the most revolutionary iteration of the sports car ever.

To start, the C8 Corvette is tipped to become a truly global car. That means Bowling Green, Kentucky—which will suspend public tours to get ready for something— will be churning out right- and left-hand drive variants. More importantly, the C8 Corvette will make an appearance down under as Holden’s long-rumored flagship sports car.

The report goes on to state the price tag will climb higher than $120,000 AUD (roughly $89,000 USD) and debut as a 2019 model year vehicle. The price is highly debatable, but sources claim the C8 Corvette will offer Ferrari-beating performance at one-third of the cost. The model year, though, falls in line with previous intel stating 2019 will be the C8’s time to shine.

The report divulges details on the powertrains as well. Specifically, a “base” C8 Corvette is rumored to arrive with a 502 horsepower small-block V8 engine with the latest lightweight and aerodynamic technology. Shaving weight from the car is said to be a high priority to help make the C8 Corvette the quickest, fastest iteration of the nameplate ever. Interestingly, the report states the small-block V8 will retain an OHV configuration. We’d beg to differ, but suppose anything is possible.

In regards to additional variants, an even hotter ZR1 model is said to arrive early next decade with a DOHC V8 engine producing around 670 hp, while a C8 Corvette E-Ray employs hybrid systems to push power even further. General Motors has already moved to trademark the “E-Ray” name and a Corvette mule has been spotted at GM’s battery facility, too.

In the near term, the 2018 C7 Corvette ZR1 will become the hottest Corvette ever produced, but GM is said to have been toying with a reveal of the mid-engine Corvette at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. The report states executives may have canned the plans in order to keep building hype closer to the car’s launch. We’d agree—LA is much too early for this car to show face and Chevrolet has a history of saving big surprises for Detroit.

While the idea of a mid-engine Corvette may be one of the worst kept secrets in the business right now, all we can do is let the rumor mill churn away until we get some truly concrete information. We’ll take the report with a grain of salt in the meantime..."

1005 hp ! Essayez de vous sauver de cette police....

"...We’re starting to get used to seeing sports cars and exotics being enrolled for police duty, from the Isle of Man’s BAC Mono and Italy’s Lamborghini Huracan, to California's Saleen S7 squad car. And now the New Braunfels Police Department in Texas can be added to that growing list with its menacing Chevrolet Corvette cop car. While other departments have received performance police cars directly from manufacturers as PR stunts, this one has a more unusual backstory...."

"...Chevrolet engineers are hard at work testing the upcoming mid-engined C8 Chevrolet Corvette, which provides opportunities for industrious spy photographers—and further delicious teasing for the rest of us. The latest images captured of the mid-engined Vette give us our best view yet of the passenger compartment and the homegrown exotic’s overall shape.

These snaps captured the C8 in a moment when the camouflage had peeled away from its roof, revealing the tall, dramatically curved windshield and the tapered roofline. Chevrolet is tipped to offer a choice of a solid roof, a lift-off top as on today’s C7, or a glass roof. Through the camouflage, we can discern the outline of the large rear glass under which sits the small-block V-8. The view of the open doors confirms that they’ll operate conventionally. We also get a good sense of the long wheelbase, the short rear overhang, the defined front fender tops, and the rounded tail.

The C8 Corvette, code-named ZERV, is expected to finally shed its camo in January with a debut at the 2018 Detroit auto show. Production begins later next year or very early 2019. Meantime, we’ll keep mulling over these spy photos, because January is a long way away...."

"...According to the report, General Motors is expected to make an announcement on the mid-engined Corvette at the Detroit Auto Show that opens on January 14 2018, to coincide with Corvette’s 65th Anniversary. However, it will not hit the road until early 2019, reports in the American media, almost unanimously claim.

GM has not let slip any information about the mid-engine Corvette so far. It could come with 4.0 L V8 with a dual clutch transmission. Based on sightings of test mules, the mid engine C8 will have a shorter wheelbase as compared to the front engine variant.

In terms of design, it will have a shorter hood and a wide mid section along with a longer tail to accommodate the engine behind the driver. Almost no components of the current Corvette could be transplanted into the mid-engine variant as the parts in the new powertrain layout would be in different locations.

The mid-engine Corvette will take on the likes of the cars from from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Mclaren. Unlike the affordable Corvettes today that cost under $100,000 with all the optional extras, the mid engine C8 could come in at $150,000...."

Oups... :rouge: :rouge:

"...2019 C7 Corvette Refresh Spied With More Aggressive Design Cues

A new set of spy photos have hit the internet and many outlets report its the long-awaited 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 donning less camouflage than ever. However, we believe these photos are actually of a mid-cycle refresh coming to the 2019 Corvette lineup.

We have a few reasons to believe this. Foremost, the 2019 Corvette spied in the photos is not wearing any of its aerodynamic cues as seen on every single past prototype. While the 2019 Corvette ZR1 has been spied with two variations of its rear wing, this car doesn’t have one at all. In fact, it doesn’t even look like it’s simply been taken off either.

The front clip is also missing the front splitter, something we’ve never seen the ZR1 test mules without. It’s plausible some aero pieces will be optional, but the amount missing from this test mule seems a tad drastic.

Secondly, the brakes are not carbon ceramic units and do not sport the same blue calipers that some C7 Corvette ZR1 prototypes seen in public have worn. These brakes feature red calipers, though the wheel design is similar to other ZR1 prototypes.
The one component throwing us off is the hood. While it looks like the ZR1’s, it doesn’t seem to sport the same bulge, which is thought to make room for a larger supercharger in the ZR1. With a mid-cycle update, the Stingray, Grand Sport and Z06 may get a hood extractor similar to the range-topping ZR1.

We’re going against the grain on this one, but we could always be wrong. From these photos, however, it appears we’re looking something less intimidating than the 2019 Corvette ZR1...."

50 ans de technologie sépare ces deux voitures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqA34UnsgaQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"....The next generation of 'Vettes may be arriving sooner than we thought. According to the Bowling Green Daily News, the 2019 model year version of the Chevrolet Corvette will enter production at the sports car's Kentucky factory on January 29th, 2018.

The news came tucked away deep in a longer story regarding the Bowling Green factory's imminent November 6th reopening, after a multi-month reset designed to retool the plant to build new models. The facility will go back to cranking out 2018 Corvettes for two and a half months until concluding that run on January 22nd, according to the paper, at which point the GM plant will begin the process of switching over to the new model.

The million-dollar question, though, is just what that 2019 Chevy Corvette will look like. The eventual arrival of a mid-engined Corvette is pretty much the worst-kept secret in the automotive universe these days, but it's entirely unclear just when said mid-engined 'Vette will make its grand entrance—especially seeing as how General Motors also presumably needs to roll out the C7-based Corvette ZR1 before the new eighth-generation sports car arrives. (Also unclear: Just where the new DOHC V-8 confirmed for the 2018 Corvette by internal GM paperwork plays into these future plans.)

Regardless of what sort of car it'll be, if correct, that January 29th date—coincidentally or not—means the 2019 Chevy Corvette will enter production immediately after the Detroit Auto Show wraps. Could that be a sign that GM has big plans to reveal something very, very fast at the next installment of the North American International Auto Show? Guess we'll have to wait until 2018 to find out for sure. ..."

"....Chevrolet will only build the 2018 Corvette for 4 months

The 2018 Chevrolet Corvette's model year will be one of the shortest in nameplate's history. After the Corvette's Bowling Green, Kentucky, assembly plant went offline in August 2017, production of the 2018 Corvette will restart next month. But the plant will stop building the 2018 model year not long after.

That's because the assembly plant will begin assembling the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette on January 29, 2018, according to Bowling Green Daily News. The final day for 2018 Corvette production is slated for January 22 with a week to gear up for the 2019 model year. It's an intriguing timeframe as the industry expects two significant Corvettes hover on the horizon.

This news suggests that the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 may arrive as a 2019 model year, though its debut is unknown. The more significant model, what is likely the mid-engined C8 Corvette, is also preparing for production. After all, the Bowling Green assembly plant went offline for retooling and greater flexibility on the line itself. The plant also opened its new paint shop.

Only 9,700 2018 Corvettes are estimated for production, which falls short of normal production totals by a large margin. Motor Authority reached out to Chevrolet for some additional reasoning behind the abbreviated model year and were simply told, "We do not discuss production details or future product."....."

"...With this latest information, there are two theories. First, the 2019 Corvette and the ZR1 will be built alongside the mid-engine C8 Corvette at least for a period of time. Or, secondly, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 will be a seriously limited-production car as a farewell to the front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout the Corvette retained since its inception 65 years ago.

With auto show season nearly upon us, we'll likely have more answers soon...."
